The February 12, 2025, Sony State of Play showed off plenty of games and announcements for the upcoming year. Take a look at our February 2025 State of Play recap and check out all the great games coming to PS5 later this year! 

Monster Hunter Wilds

We got a closer look at Monster Hunter Wilds, set to release later this month on February 28th. Building the hype for the latest entry in the Monster Hunter series, Sony showed off a litany of monsters that players can look forward to hack, slash, and shoot as they farm materials for upgrades.

They also revealed the first free update coming this spring including the new monster Mizutsune, Event Quests, and additional updates.

 

Shinobi: Art of Vengeance

New from SEGA, Shinobi Art of Vengeance, a side-scrolling action game taking inspiration from Japanese mythology, is set to release on August 29th. 

Sonic Racing CrossWorlds

Sony also showed off Sonic Racing CrossWorlds, giving us a better look at new levels and playable characters like Sonic, Knuckles, Dr. Robotnik, and Shadow. A closed network test is available for players starting February 21.

Digimon Story Time Stranger

A brand-new Digimon game, Digimon Story Time Stranger, showing off some of the favorite Digimon from the animated series, was also shown during this State of Play. No firm Digimon release date was announced, but players can expect to enter the world of Digimon later in 2025.

Lost Souls Aside

Embarking on a journey to reunite souls and explore a diverse and vibrant world, Lost Souls Aside will be available on May 30 on both PS5 and PC. 

Like a Dragon Updates 

A playable demo of Like a Dragon: Pirate Yaukuza Hawaii will be available later this week, with the full game releasing on February 21. 

Dave the Diver: Ichiban's Holiday arrives on PS5 and PS4 this April.

Splitgate 2

A new Alpha test begins on February 27 on PS5, allowing players to use portals and physics. Up to 24 players can compete on a massive map in Splitgate 2

WWE 2K25

In the future of WWE 2K25, players can access The Island, a massive multiplayer area with shops, arenas and more. WWE 2K25 will be available on March 14.

Battling enemies in Borderlands 4

Borderlands 4

Gearbox gave us a quick look at Borderlands 4, showing off the stylistic first-person shooting and action that fans of the series have loved for so long. Borderlands 4 will land "for everyone" on September 23, 2025.

Borderlands 4 will also receive its own State of Play later this spring.

Split Fiction 

Two writers get pulled into a world of needing to work together in the latest game from Hazelight. Split Fiction embraces couch co-op and features two writers exploring and adventuring through wildly different worlds based on their imaginations. Split Fiction will be available March 6, 2025.

 

Directive 8020

A new sci-fi adventure, players will need to be careful in Directive 8020 as they fight against an alien enemy capable of taking on a human form. Available October 2, players can explore deep space and attempt to survive this fall.

Five Nights at Freddy's: Secret of the Mimic 

Available June 13, Five Nights at Freddy's: Secret of the Mimic expands on the lore of the series and puts players in a stressful environment, using ingenuity and skill to survive against the murderous animatronics.

The Midnight Walk

One of the more stylistic games shown off during the Sony State of Play, The Midnight Walk will be available for players on May 8. Explore a beautiful and dark world and survive against its many inhabitants.

Darwin's Paradox

Play as an octopus as you sneak, swim, and jump your way through a puzzling world in this side-scroller. Darwin's Paradox will be available later this year.

Warriors: Abyss

For fans of Dynasty Warriors and Roguelikes Warriors: Abyss is the perfect game for you.

Launching on PS5 and PS4 later today, Warriors: Abyss requires you to battle through hoards of enemies to claim victory.

Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny

Available on PS4 on May 23, Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny is a remake of a PS2 classic, adding quality of life improvements like analogue controls. Samurai fans can look forward to hopping into this game this spring. 

Onimusha: Way of the Sword

Coming to PlayStation 5 in 2026, the Onimusha: Way of the Sword trailer showed off sword combat, rich environments, a variety of unique enemies, and all the blood and gore one could hope for from a Samurai game.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater

A new Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater trailer gave us a better look at Solid Snake, the environments he'll be battling through in this upcoming adventure. MGS fans can jump into Solid Snake's shoes come August 28, 2025. 

The trailer also ended with an Ape Escape monkey running away, referencing the Monkey Catch mini-game or maybe even Measel Gear Solid?

 

Hell is Us

Available on September 4, 2025, Hell Is Us showed off its fever dream of a world and combat style, raising more questions than it answered, but players will only have to wait until this fall to get a hands-on experience with this game.

Lies of P: Overture

Showing off new bosses, characters, and snowy areas, Lies of P: Overture will be available this summer. The trailer promises more of the Souls-like experience that so many players loved from the base game.

Dreams of Another

Looking like it was hand-drawn by pencil, Dreams of Another showed us just a few glimpses of what to expect, following the themes of "no creation without destruction". This surreal, dreamlike world can be experienced later this year on PS5.

Days Gone Remastered

Days Gone Remastered features PS5 VRR support and PS5 Pro Support, includes new content like permadeath and speed run modes, enhanced photo mode, and Horde Assault – a survival horde mode. Those who own a PS4 version can upgrade to Days Gone Remastered on PS5 for $10 on April 25, 2025.

Tides of Annihilation

Eclipse Glow Games showed a mind-bending Tides of Annihilation trailer featuring giants, elemental combat, and fast-paced platforming. The setting of the game looks to be in a fantasy dystopic London.

Metal Eden

A first-person shooter, Metal Eden showed our character parkouring across the terrain and taking on enemies from above and below. Available later this spring, Metal Eden will be a new FPS for shooter fans to look forward to.

Mindseye

Available summer 2025, the Mindseye trailer and gameplay footage showed off what players can expect both on the base PlayStation 5 console, as well as on PlayStation 5 Pro. Reminiscent of GTA, Mindseye gives players an arsenal of guns, fast cars, and a sci-fi future to experience this story in.

Saros 

Showing our protagonist waking up on a beach, medallion around his neck, high-powered firearm in hand, looking up at a dying sun as beasts rise from the ocean, HouseMarque revealed their new game Saros. Expected 2026 on PS5 and enhanced for PS5 Pro, Saros builds on gameplay that the studio introduced with Returnal in 2021. 

A look at Saros gameplay will be available later this year. 

 

 

And with that, the event was over showing us a variety of first-party and third-party titles that we can look forward to playing throughout 2025 and into 2026.
