Today, Tactical Adventures announced that Wizards of the Coast has granted them a license to use Dungeons & Dragons SRD 5.1 content and rules for their upcoming title Solasta: Crown of the Magister.

So what does this mean for the game? Based on the Wizards of the Coast website, it means that Tactical Adventures will be able to use specific content and rules found within the 403-page document. So, if they wanted to use Animal Shapes, a 8th-level transmutation that allows "your magic [to] turn others into beasts" (page 115), now they can. Essentially, it allows the title to use the document as a strong foundation to building their own spells, content, and rules found within their game. It's pretty cool, actually.

So far, Solasta: Crown of the Magister's Kickstarter has reached 95% of its goal. They have also posted a demo that gives players a 1-hour slice of pre-alpha content to 'try before they buy', or in this case pledge. There will also be a Reddit AMA on the /r/games subreddit on Thursday 26 starting at 7 AM PDT/ 10 AM EDT/ 4 PM CEST.

“We are absolutely thrilled at the response Solasta has been receiving. On top of it, garnering the license from Wizards of the Coast is a big step forward for the game,” said Mathieu Girard, founder of Tactical Adventures and Creative Director of Solasta. “We are excited to fully embrace the SRD5 rules, and the license opens up many more creative opportunities to build Solasta as our fans expect.”

Solasta is a Tactical-CRPG where each encounter can be solved in different ways. If you want to attack from above or below, it is up to the player and those he has within his party. Rather than utilizing flat maps, players can fight in a fully three-dimensional world. You can check out our Crowdfunding Spotlight on Solasta to find out more.
