Turn-based Dungeons and Dragons RPG Solasta: Crown of the Magister is getting a full release very soon. Despite only entering Early Access in October 2020, the game will be coming to Steam and GOG in all its glory on May 27th.

What do we know about the 1.0 release of Solasta: Crown of the Magister?

This news comes to us via an official announcement on the Solasta: Crown of the Magister Steam page. In the announcement, developer Tactical Adventures reveals a little more info about the full release of the game. If you purchased it in Early Access, naturally you'll be getting the 1.0 version at no additional cost. The devs say they were originally aiming for "around 40 hours in total" as a guide length. However, if your Early Access playthrough already clocked up 30 hours or so, you "may not be finishing the entire game in 40h" as a lot of content was held back from that version to avoid spoilers.

The level cap at launch will be 10, with scope for increasing that number as new content is added. If you're a Dungeons and Dragons aficionado, you may notice that some classes, such as Barbarian and Bard, are missing from Solasta: Crown of the Magister. Tactical Adventures says it's been focusing on the six classes available at launch - Fighter, Wizard, Rogue, Cleric, Ranger, and Paladin - with a seventh, the Sorcerer, on the way in a free post-launch piece of DLC. However, the developer says it wants to have extra classes in the game "as much as you do", and that they "may be added in future DLCs".

Will there be post-launch content for Solasta: Crown of the Magister?

According to the developers, Solasta will be "fully complete" at launch, and they don't plan to add more content to the campaign. However, if bugs or balancing issues do crop up, Tactical Adventures will be keeping a close eye on them in order to squash them as quickly as possible. In addition, the Dungeon Maker feature is still in beta, so the devs say they'll be working on creating upgrades and additions for that system post-launch. The devs have also said the Sorcerer will be coming in post-launch DLC, so there may be scope for other DLC packs with more content in future. Furthermore, no additional work is planned for the facial animation. The devs say the game is "not a story-focused RPG, but a tactical RPG", so it's more focused on combat than storytelling.

You can grab Solasta: Crown of the Magister right now on Steam or GOG. It's still in Early Access for the moment, but the full version of the game is coming on May 27th. If you're holding out for a console port, you may not want to hold your breath, either. Tactical Adventures say they'll "have to see how it goes", so if the game performs well, we may see console ports. For now, though, you're better off grabbing this one on PC if you're wanting to check it out.
