Today, developer and publisher CI Games unveiled a new multiplayer mode for the latest title in their Sniper: Ghost Warrior franchise.
The title, Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts, has received decent reviews on Steam and OpenCritic, with TechRaptor's review stating that "It’s easy to get lost in the pleasure behind clearing an entire fortress in Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts. While the overall story isn’t compelling, the gameplay is gripping." That's about par for the course for the series: decent gunplay, underwhelming everything else. That about sums up this announcement too, as while the game itself was released on November 22 2019, it's taken over three months for the game's multiplayer mode to arrive, which is belated to say the least.
It's also a weird addition all around. It's an update, yes, but players must go to its separate Steam page and 'buy' it as DLC, even though it's free. There's also no reviews yet or video footage, and only four screenshots of (presumably) multiplayer gameplay on the Steam Page. The only description on the page is only 12 words as well: "grab your Sniper rifle and join the fight in the multiplayer mode!" OK... but what is it about? What modes are included? (A tweet revealed there is Deathmatch, and Team Deathmatch). Is there co-op? (Nope, the developers revealed in comments) How many players can play? Could you be a little less descriptive, CI Games? I'm overwhelmed with the information here.
The announcement is similarly sparse, telling players that the time has come to "put their skills to the test" so that they can fight for the title of "Eagle Eye Badass", which is something that I'm sure everyone will want to know when you attain the immensely prestigious rank.
For anyone curious as to what the game mode has to offer and happens to own Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts, be sure to download the multiplayer mode here.
