CI Games has delayed Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 to the second quarter of 2021. The team says it wants to expand the game significantly and that it's targeting the maximum number of platforms possible for the game.
Why is Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 delayed?
According to CI Games CEO Marek Tymński (note: we're using machine translation for this link), Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 needs a little more time. It was originally due to launch in early 2021; in fact, that's what the game's official Steam page still lists as its release window. Tymński says the team wants to release the game in a "significantly expanded" version which will take into account platforms on which the game will be appearing. Despite this delay, Tymński says he's "satisfied" with the current state of Contracts 2.
Given the wording of the post (although, again, we're using machine translation), it's likely that Tymński and his team are targeting next-gen platforms for the release of Contracts 2. Originally, the game was only due to launch on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. However, it's now likely we'll see a PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S release alongside those platforms.
When is the Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 release date?
Unfortunately, we don't have a specific release date, only a broad window. CI Games says it'll begin advertising the game in the first quarter of 2021, and will then reveal an exact release date later down the line, along with more info about the game. At this point, we'll also learn exactly which platforms Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 will land on, although it's likely it'll be all of them (perhaps excepting the Nintendo Switch). We'll just have to wait and see.
When Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 does land, it'll bring with it several improvements over the original, as well as some new features. CI Games says it'll be the first sniper game on consoles and PC to offer shots of over 1km distance. The devs are also promising a hyper-realistic sniping experience with lots of brand new equipment and upgraded visuals to enjoy.
