SMITE Celebrates Hitting 20 Million Players Milestone

Hi-Rez has reason to celebrate today, as SMITE, their third-person action MOBA, reached the 20 million players mark. Since its release in March 2014, SMITE managed to gather quite the following, with the game sitting at 15k concurrent players on Steam at the time of writing. The developers decided to celebrate the target with a three-day long event where the community will be able to gather some gems and even a free skin.

The recent release of SMITE on PlayStation 4, surely helped contribute to the game reaching this objective. The still ongoing launch party event on the Sony console probably gave the title a big, although deserved, player count boost.

The event will start Friday, June 3rd and will finish Monday, June 6th. During this period, SMITE players will be able to earn 50 gems each day by completing 3 first wins of the day for a total of 150 gems during the whole duration of the event. That's not all, though. Hi-Rez decided that there's no better way to celebrate an event of the sort than giving a free god and a free skin to everyone. All the players that will use the code"#20MILLION" in the game store during the event, will receive Bellona and her Battle Maiden skin for free.

To claim the character and skin, you'll have to open the STORE tab, click the Redeem option at the bottom and insert the code in the dedicated area as shown below:

You only have a couple of days to use the code before the event ends and the coupon expires, so better get right to it.

With 2 years of activity, more than 70 released gods and a very affectionate community, SMITE sure came a long way. It's one of the few MOBAs that have a console release and its peculiar take on the multiplayer arena genre attracted and will, hopefully, continue to attract many players willing to fight in the battleground of the gods.

Do you play SMITE? Did you redeem your Bellona Battle Maiden freebie? Let us know in the comments
