The first major Smalland update has been released. As promised in the game's roadmap, Giant's Fall brings a new enemy type, new NPCs to further the game's story, and a new resource to play with, as well as honest-to-goodness catapults to launch you across the map.
Smalland: Survive the Wilds launched back in late March, and since then, it's received a trickle of smaller updates bringing things like server modifiers and bug fixes (no pun intended). This one, though, is much bigger. The first major additions are two new story NPCs who are intended to pave the way for the next major milestone in the narrative of the Smallfolk. You can check out a trailer for the Giant's Fall update here.
If you're more of a gameplay-oriented Smalland player, you'll be happy to know there's plenty here for you as well. The new Pyrite resource adds more options when it comes to gear, with a new greatsword and armor set available to be crafted when you find some. A new metal building tier has been introduced, and you can now ride a hornet, which comes complete with its own attack animations.
One of the most exciting new additions in Giant's Fall is the catapult. This fast-travel contraption will allow you to launch yourself bodily across Smalland's map, but it's not just you that can travel this way. You can also slot creatures and items into the catapult and watch them go. Want to have a wild strawberry-launching competition with your friends? You can do that now.
You'll find the full Smalland: Giant's Fall patch notes here, and it's worth having a quick read through them, because they also contain some bug fixes that might be the answer to some particularly aggravating situations you've been stuck in. Smalland: Survive the Wilds is available right now on PC via Steam Early Access. Make sure to check out our guides to help you stay alive in this unforgiving micro-wilderness.
