Full Circle

Electronic Arts have announced the opening of a new development studio, Full Circle, to create the next game in the Skate series. It is EA's third development studio in Vancouver, joining EA Sports and Respawn Entertainment.

Daniel McCulloch, the former General Manager of Xbox Live, left Microsoft in June 2020 to join Full Circle as its General Manager.

“The fans wished Skate back into existence, and we want them to feel involved in the process from development to game launch and beyond,” said McCulloch. “We want them to feel like they are a part of Full Circle.”

“We’re all about having fun and making great games that people want to play with their friends. And, we’re looking for more developers to help us build compelling worlds for players to explore.”

Deran Chung and Cuz Perry, part of the creative team that made Skate 1-3, are also back to help make Skate 4:

“We’re so stoked to be back working on Skate,” the Chung and Parry said in a statement. “Some would say things have come full circle.”

There's also a ton of jobs currently open for Full Circle on the EA Studios website. This includes Activities Designer, Rendering Engineer, Social Game Designer, Progression Designer, and Gameplay Mechanics Designer along with what appears to be a few dozen available jobs.

Looking at the Gameplay Mechanics Designer position, the job opened on January 22 and is "embracing a remote-working, geo-diverse team and culture." It appears that it doesn't matter where you are working from, as long as you are in the Americas and know what you are doing. This is an interesting position for the new studio to take, but given that it's a post COVID world it has become necessary.
