Even if Cthulhu is trying to drive you mad, you need to look your best. You always need to look your best. A new, free, update for The Sinking City tries to help you with that, and also makes the game a little less glitchy.

As far as new content goes, there are two new outfits you can put on the main character, Charles Reed, so he always looks his best. The first is the "vacationist" outfit, which puts Reed in a snazzy and clean buttoned-up shirt and pants, making it look like he's ready for a casual Friday at the office. The other is the "unburdened newcomer" outfit, which is actually the same outfit as his default but without the massive backpack, he normally wears.

As for the patch, it has done some work to try and make the game feel and play better. One of the biggest notes is that work has been put into the FPS, making sure it dips a lot less and that the game is more optimized. Crowd behavior has also been changed, and some work has gone into making sure that NPCs no longer spawn in places that the player can see. Firearms have gotten some new sound effects and recoil animations as well, to give them a little more of a kick than they had before.

The patch took a noticeably long time to come out, and game producer Serge Chervonnyi had the following message for players about it:

We're very sorry for the delay on these patches. We’re not the biggest team so collecting as many instances of where the game’s performance was taking a hit to really understand the issues took much longer than expected. From there it was a matter of making sure our fixes were effective across the board and not just on these instances. We also had a 2nd team working on additional enhancements that then had to be merged with our performance patches and properly tested. We’re really sorry for the wait but hope the fixes plus the additional outfits can now let console players who were holding off on playing dive back into the game.

The Sinking City is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. If you'd like to know more about the game, you can read our review here.
