It's GOG's 12th anniversary, and the DRM-free retailer has a spooky surprise in store. As part of the 12th anniversary celebrations, GOG is bringing Silent Hill 4: The Room back to PC. There's also lots of other stuff including a big sale and more DRM-free titles.

Should you buy Silent Hill 4: The Room on GOG?

Silent Hill 4: The Room, re-released on PC for the first time since 2004, is one of the weirdest and most interesting entries in the franchise. Henry Townshend finds himself stuck in the titular room and must travel through a portal to an alternate reality in order to find a means of escape. Silent Hill 4 is the first game in the series to feature first-person gameplay, with the titular room serving as both a sanctuary and a prison for Townshend. It's worth checking out if you're a horror aficionado and you want to try something genuinely innovative and unsettling.

It's not just Silent Hill 4, though. Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord has also been released on GOG, so you can get this medieval army-raising sim DRM-free. There's a release-window discount of 20% on the GOG version, too, which lasts until October 17th. In addition, if you buy it via GOG before the 12th anniversary sale ends on October 9th, you'll get the original Mount & Blade for free. If you're in more of a cerebral puzzle-solving mood, you might enjoy The Talos Principle: Gold Edition, which can currently be had for 90% off its usual asking price.

What's this about a GOG 12th anniversary sale?

To celebrate 12 years in the digital distribution business, GOG is offering a whole bunch of games at up to 90% off in its 12th anniversary sale. As part of this sale, you've got one more chance to buy the Ultimate RED Collection. This pack collects all five Witcher games and also includes a pre-order for Cyberpunk 2077, which isn't bad considering the asking price. If you don't have the Witcher series already and know you're buying Cyberpunk, you could do much, much worse.

There are plenty of other titles available in the sale, too. You can grab classics like Blade Runner (33% off), Jagged Alliance 2 (75% off) and Diablo + Hellfire (15% off) with big discounts. Of course, you'll also find more modern fare like Deus Ex: Mankind Divided (85% off) and Desperados III (25% off). There's something for everyone in GOG's 12th anniversary sale, so make sure you check it out before it ends on October 9th at 1 pm UTC.
