Sifu was an absolute hit when it launched in February of this year. Our very own Austin was a testament to that when he gave it a 9/10 commending the game for its "Accessible Yet Complex Combat System" even if the gameplay might have needed a bit more thorough explaining. Sloclap announced a health roadmap of free updates for Sifu in April and while the first Spring Update dropped in May we've now got confirmation that the Sifu Free Summer Update 2022 will be released on August 31st.
The Free Summer Update 2022 will bring with it a variety of new modifiers that players can try out to really see if they've got what it takes to become a Kung Fu master... or alternatively can be used to make the game easier to get through. If you're looking for a challenge you'll want to use the modifiers that allow an enemy to ignore your ability to guard, or disable your ability to pick up items and weapons. Alternatively, you can quickly enable infinite health, infinite structure, or unbreakable weapons for yourself. Developers Sloclap has commented that you can make your own "hardcore" mode where you can go into combat with one HP, enemies have increased power, and you're unable to guard. Anyone who has been practicing their "no hit" Sifu runs will likely be excited to hear about this idea.
Another addition with this update is the scoring mode. Each attack or dodge you make here will earn you a certain amount of points, while dodging enemies hits will continue your streaks. With this arcadey feature, you'll be able to see how you compare to others by working to increase your score. At the end of a level, your scores will be tallied up according to the player's smoothness, efficiency, and variety and you'll earn a ranking.
Two new outfits will also be available as part of this update. For those who purchased the Sifu Deluxe Edition you'll be able to wear the Enforcer Armor, this armor set is designed to look like the protagonist is about to go out on a SWAT raid fully geared up in tactical wear. For purchasers of both the Sifu Standard Edition AND the Deluxe Edition you'll get the Master Hand outfit. In this outfit, your character will be wearing a trench coat and hat.
This update will be available for no additional cost on August 31st.
