The Shovel Knight franchise returns with a new release just in time for the holidays! The official Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon release date is Monday, December 13. The latest entry in the Shovel Knight series features falling block puzzles gameplay with a dungeon twist. It will release on Steam, the Nintendo Switch, and Sony PlayStation 4 consoles. The news came from a blog post by Yacht Club Games on their official site.
A lot of hard work, joy, tears, & love went into this game’s 3 year development. It was a passion project to bring a new type of puzzle game to the world!
In Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon, you can select from one of over ten different heroes. Each hero has their own unique power and corresponding playstyle, meaning you can try out all sorts of strategies for victory. As you journey through the dungeon, you'll bump into enemies and take them on with unique puzzle-tactical combat. Arrange them well enough, and you can bury foes in a barrage of chain attacks! Pick up items and treasures to power up and give yourself an edge when you need it most. Whether that's in Story Mode, taking a friend on in Versus Mode, the Daily Challenge, or your own diabolical self-imposed challenge, there's plenty of variety awaiting you. Along the way, Puzzle Knight will assist you as you attempt to escape the Pocket Dungeon with classic Shovel Knight storytelling. More will be revealed as the Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon release date approaches.
In addition to the release date announcement, Yacht Club Games promised three DLC packs for Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon over the next year in their blog post. They also released the Pocket Knight instruction manual to get a jump start on how to play. More details about the DLC will be revealed after the launch, so be sure to follow the company on social media (such as their Twitter) if you want to keep up with the latest news!
While waiting for Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon, you can pick up Shovel Knight Treasure Trove at a special discount on the PlayStation 4. The current offer runs until December 2, which you can find on the PlayStation Store. You can also rewatch the announcement trailer from August if you want to refresh your memory.
