Shoestring Gaming

Hello and welcome to another week of Shoestring Gaming, where we scour the Internet for the best deals on games so you can play the best titles without having to spend your life savings. On top of that, new free to play games for those of you who don't have any cash to work with whatsoever. Many of these deals are only available for a short amount of time so get them quickly.

Let's mix it up and talk about console deals first. This week Microsoft has a few deals for Xbox owners and Gold Members. Most notable is their massive indie sale for Xbox One players. Save on games like The Escapists, Oddworld: New 'N' Tastyand The Swapper. If you're a Gold Member, you can also enjoy discounts on Life is Strange and Never Alone for the Xbox One, and Diablo IIICall of Duty 3, and others for the Xbox 360.

Right now Sony has a deal on retro-style games for their Playstation consoles. Big discounts on games like Hotline MiamiGrim Fandango: Remastered, and Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix  along with other games, as well as a few movies.

Nintendo actually has an awesome sale this week too, with a few Capcom titles in the eShop at a discount, including Phoenix Wright and Monster Hunter 4

That's enough of consoles, let's move on to the real games (don't worry, joking. Mostly). TechRaptor's GamesRepublic as always has a ton of great deals in their perpetual Monster Sale tab. The theme this week is Tomb Raider (get 11 games starring Lara Croft for $20 or buy them individually), Deus Ex, and Dark Souls, but I know the game you guys really want is Pony World 2, so make sure you get that while it's on sale. If you aren't looking to save so much money you can also check out their regular Sale tab and get Pillars of Eternity Royal, Hero, or Champion editions for 33% off.

GreenManGaming is currently having their Indie Summer Sale. Among those deals is the Eve Core Starter Pack plus the Premium Edition and a ton of expansions. If you go to the VIP room you'll find some great deals on AAA games like Far Cry 3Grand Theft Auto V, and Guild Wars 2. Also get your 20% off your purchase from GreenManGaming this week (NOTE: Most likely the voucher will not stack with pre-existing discounts, though you can of course try and it likely won't hurt) by using this code: GRAB20-PEROFF-NOWGMG. And then you can pre-purchase Mad Max from GreenManGaming and get 40% off by using this code: MADMAX-SAVE40-MADMAX. Don't worry we won't tell anyone if you pre-purchase. Just this once.

At GOG, you can save 33% on some awesome Elder Scroll games, the ID software bundle featuring Doom and Quake, or celebrate the upcoming Fallout 4 with 66% off some early Fallout titles. On Amazon, you can get Dragon Ball Xenoverse right now for pretty much every major platform for up to 50% off. If that's not your thing, then you can combine the Elder Scrolls deal at GOG and get Skyrim (and Dragonborn DLC), Oblivion,  and The Elder Scrolls Online at a discount. The best deal on Amazon right now though is for Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition. Get it right now for five bucks.

For free, right now on GameJolt you can get Super Wolfenstein HD for absolutely free advertised as now having realistic physics. Very fun, highly rated, admittedly it's been out for a while but it's free so if you haven't played it, you have no excuse. Rereleased on GameJolt recently was SCP - Containment Breachwhich is still getting frequent updates with all new content. And, just because it looks like fun, The Jimi Hendrix Case. I'm probably going to go play that once I'm done writing. And as always there are literally hundreds of games you can try out on GameJolt. Granted we can't speak for quality, but you might find some hidden gems. Or just play all their featured games, and you can't go wrong.

As always if you know any great deals that didn't get mentioned here, tell us in the description below. Also let us know if you liked these deals or if there are deals we should keep an eye out for in the future.
