It seems that Cygames isn't done drawing inspiration from their previous card game Rage of Bahamut, as they have revealed the newest Shadowverse expansion has a similar name to Rage of Bahamut. Titled Rise of Bahamut, this 105 card expansion was introduced to players today in scans of the Famitsū magazine.

Rise of Bahamut will introduce a new card ability called "Enhance", which activates if you have the required amount of play points (the cost to play cards). For example, a card (such as the new Neutral, Silver-rarity Frozen Hell's Howl) normally costs five play points and destroys an enemy follower, but has an Enhance ability that activates when you have eight play points. If you cast this card when you have eight or more play points, Frozen Hell's Howl will instead cost eight play points to cast, and the Enhance ability will activate (in this case, it adds a Satan's Servant to your hand).

A number of cards from Rise of Bahamut have been revealed today; sadly, we don't have the artwork for all the cards just yet, but we do know their name, what craft they belong to, their rarity and their play point cost (credit for card translation goes to the unknown author of this Google document, which translates the information found on this Japanese blog).

  • Frozen Hell's Howl: A Neutral-class, Silver-rarity spell that destroys an enemy follower for five play points. It has the Enhance ability, which activates when you have eight or more play points. The spell will instead cost eight play points, and will put a Satan's Servant into your hand.
  • Ancient White Wolf: A Forestcraft-class, Legendary-rarity 4/4 follower that costs eight play points. It has the Storm ability (can attack opponent's followers and the opponent on the turn it is cast), and Last Words (when this card is destroyed, at the beginning of your next turn randomly add one of the highest cost Forestcraft cards (except Ancient White Wolf) from your deck to your hand and make its cost zero). When Ancient White Wolf evolves, it has the same abilities and becomes a 6/6 follower.
  • Subleader Gert: A Swordcraft-class, Silver-rarity 2/2 Officer follower that costs two play points. It has the Fanfare ability [when this card enters the board, if you have a Commander on your board, Subleader Gert gains +1/+0 and Ward (opponent and their followers can only target this card until it's destroyed.)] When Subleader Gert evolves, it becomes a 4/4 follower.
  • Mysteria Wizard Craig: A Runecraft-class, Bronze-rarity 2/2 follower that costs two play points. It has the Fanfare ability (when this card enters the board, Spellboost one of your followers in your hand twice). When Mysteria Wizard Craig evolves, it becomes a 4/4 follower.
  • Salamander's Breath: A Dragoncraft-class, Gold-rarity spell that costs two play points and deals three damage to an enemy follower. It has the Enhance ability, which activates when you have six or more play points. The spell will instead cost six play points, and will deal two additional damage to all enemy followers.
  • Purgatory Contract: A Shadowcraft-class, Gold-rarity spell that costs three play points and destroys an enemy follower with four or less health. It has the Enhance ability, which activates when you have seven or more play points. The spell will instead cost seven play points, and will summon a Pluto follower and let it gain attack and health equal to that of the destroyed follower.
  • Mastema: A Bloodcraft-class, Gold-rarity 6/6 follower that costs five play points. It cannot attack enemy followers that do not have the Ward ability. When it evolves, it becomes an 8/8 follower that cannot attack enemy followers that do not have the Ward ability.
  • Master Lady Sage: A Havencraft-class, Bronze-rarity 1/2 follower that costs three play points that decreases the Countdown of all your amulets by one at the end of your turn. When it evolves, it becomes a 3/4 follower that decreases the Countdown of all your amulets by one at the end of your turn.
It also appears that some changes are coming for older expansion cards, as evidenced by the scans from the Famitsū magazine. Elana's Prayer, a powerful card and one of the backbones of the Tier S Elana Havencraft deck, has had an increase in play points, now costing five instead of three. Elf Knight Cythnia, which sees play in many variations of Forestcraft decks, similarly has a minor increase in play points from six to seven. Elf Girl Liza has slightly nerfed stats, at 2/1 instead of 2/2. It is unknown whether further changes will be made to more cards from pre-Rise of Bahamut expansions.

At the time of writing this article, there is no exact time given by Cygames as to when players can expect to see Rise of Bahamut in Shadowverse, just that it will be in late December; this lines up with the information that they provided to us in our recent interview session.

Players can expect more information on Rise of Bahamut cards on December 1, 2016, when eight more cards will be revealed to the public.
