A fourth DLC pack has been announced for Call of Duty: WWII. Titled Shadow War, the DLC will include three new multiplayer maps, a new mission for the game's War Mode, and the final part of the Nazi Zombies storyline.

Sledgehammer Games' stated mission for the Shadow War DLC was to "push the fiction as far as we could, have a lot of fun with it, and give the player a sense of creativity as they play", according to Lead Multiplayer Environment Artist Matt Abbott.

Shadow War's multiplayer maps - Airship, Chancellery, and Excavation - are entirely new creations and have never appeared before in the Call of Duty series. Airship is set high in the Alps mountain range and features a docked zeppelin alongside a series of vertiginous cliffs. Chancellery will focus on a French chancellor's stronghold, which has a central courtyard surrounded by flanking pathways. Finally, Excavation sees players duke it out in an Algerian mine full of stockpiled art and gold.

Call of Duty: WWII's Nazi Zombies mode concludes with The Frozen Dawn. Protagonists Marie, Drostan, Olivia and Jefferson return to finally put a stop to the cult of Thule. Sledgehammer Games' Cameron Dayton says players will be able to "get their hands on some of the most powerful weapons in the history of wonder weapons", and that the new arsenal available to players will transform gameplay. Dayton also says that there are secrets that have yet to be found in the existing Call of Duty: WWII Nazi Zombies maps, so keep an eye out for those if you're an enterprising sort of zombie slayer.

Finally, there's the new War Mode mission, which is called Operation Arcane. Players will visit the Austrian mountains to sneak into an enemy research base, stealing enemy secrets and destroying classified technology. Sledgehammer Games' Multiplayer Creative Director Greg Reisdorf detailed a new super soldier serum which gives players a sword and "five times [their] normal health", among other weapons and powerups available to players as part of this new mission.

The Shadow War DLC for Call of Duty: WWII will launch as a PS4 timed exclusive on August 28th. If you're not a Season Pass holder or you don't have the DLC, you'll still be able to experience the new content for free until October 28th if you party up with a Season Pass holder (they have to be the party leader). The Call of Duty: WWII Season Pass is currently on sale over at the PS Store, so if you're interested, head over and grab it.

Call of Duty: WWII was originally released back in November 2017. You can check out TechRaptor's review of the game here.
