A new Seven Deadly Sins open-world RPG is on the way. Titled Seven Deadly Sins: Origin, it's under development by South Korean studio Netmarble, and will share many similarities with games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Genshin Impact.
What do we know about this Seven Deadly Sins open-world RPG?
We don't know too much about Seven Deadly Sins: Origin yet, but we do have a first teaser trailer showing off some of the game's mechanics. Since games like Genshin Impact have proven so popular, Seven Deadly Sins: Origin is taking a leaf out of its book, as well as a fair few pages out of Breath of the Wild's weighty tome. You'll play as Meliodas, and you'll get to explore a vast, beautiful world, relying on your teammates to help you reach certain areas. You can check out the first Seven Deadly Sins: Origin trailer right here.
As you can see, Origin bears a lot of resemblance to Breath of the Wild and Genshin, not least in its climbing mechanics and overall aesthetic. There are a few fun twists on the formula, though. It looks like you'll be able to enlist your comrades to help you explore the world; the trailer shows Diane creating a rock bridge for Deadly Sins captain Meliodas to cross, as well as King enabling Meliodas to fly. You can also spot Merlin and Gilthunder teaming up to battle demons in combat. Perhaps most intriguingly, there's also a shot of Meliodas swimming around underwater, diving for treasure and exploring. It's safe to say this one looks like it's going to be exciting for fans of the Seven Deadly Sins anime.
When is the Seven Deadly Sins: Origin release date?
Unfortunately, we don't yet know when we can expect Seven Deadly Sins: Origin to launch in the West, or even if we'll be getting it here. It comes to us from the developers of the rather successful Ni No Kuni: Cross Worlds mobile game, which is due to launch in the West sometime this year, so a Seven Deadly Sins: Origin Western release is probably on the cards. However, it looks like we'll have to wait just a little longer for more news about that.

We'll have to wait and see what new details Netmarble releases about Seven Deadly Sins: Origin. Since the trailer depicts two of the anime's cast battling a demon together, we could be in for a more multiplayer-focused experience; this is a feature that's highly requested in games like Breath of the Wild, so it would make sense for Netmarble to include it. Right now, though, it's all just speculation. We'll bring you more on this game as soon as we get it.
