Long-time Sega Genesis fans are in for a treat this year, as Sega has officially announced that the SEGA Genesis Mini 2 is coming to North America on October 27, 2022. It will be sold exclusively on Amazon Japan for $103.80, but after import fees and shipping, it will cost around $125.79.

With so many nostalgic and phenomenal titles, gamers are sure to find one that they have fond memories of. One of the games that will be featured in this release is Splatterhouse 2. This sidescrolling horror game is filled with eight harrowing stages, where players take on the life of Rick who has consistent nightmares involving Jennifer, who he was unable to save in the first game. The Terror Mask reappears in this game, trying to coerce Rick to go locate the house and making him believe that Jennifer may be able to be rescued.

Rick will have the same abilities available to him as he did in the first Splatterhouse, allowing him to punch, kick, slide kick and jump kick. Players will also have access to an array of weapons that are found throughout each of the levels.

A few others that will be available with the purchase of the console are:

  • Sonic
  • Night Striker
  • The NinjaWarriors
  • After Burner 2
  • Outrun
  • Sonic 3D Blast
  • VectorMan 2
  • The Ooze
  • Lightning Force

Previously the SEGA Genesis Mini 2 was only made confirmed to be released in Japan, making this reveal even more exciting for those of us on the western side of the world. With over 50 classic games, more power than ever seen before in the Sega Genesis consoles, and the inclusion of Sega CD titles, this will definitely be a monumental release. Sega initially announced the release via live stream back in June, but they had only announced the release in Japan at that time.

SEGA also revealed a promotional video to show off exactly what players will be able to grab hold of this October. Check it out below:
