Sega has an amazing collection of classic games, and slowly but surely they've been bringing them to the Nintendo 3DS. Now they're bringing in another collection, with six more titles remade for the 3D treatment.
The new collection, titled Sega 3D Fukkoku Archives 3: Final Stage in Japan, will include six games. Five of the games were chosen by Sega themselves, and include Sonic the Hedgehog 2, After Burner II, Streets of Rage 2, Gunstar Heroes, and Super Hang On. The last game was instead chosen by fans who owned the previous two games, and at TGS Sega revealed that game was Turbo Outrun. Other games that were voted for included Virtua Racing, OutRunners, Gain Ground, and Wing War.
While this is the third collection of 3D Sega games, only the second collection made it to the United States. Released earlier this year under the title Sega 3D Classics Collection, the collection had 10 games included on it. You could get Sonic the Hedgehog, Thunder Blade, Power Drift, Altered Beast, Galaxy Force II, Fantasy Zone, Fantasy Zone II W, Fantasy Zone II: The Tears of Opa-Opa, Puyo Puyo Tsu, and Maze Hunter 3D all remade for your 3DS. The games included some new features, like customization controls, adjusting screen sizes, and difficulty levels. A couple of the games (Thunder Blade and Galaxy Force II) had newly re-recorded sounds using an arcade machine. Not to mention, of course, that all games take advantage of the Nintendo 3DS' ability to use stereoscopic 3D.
It is still unsure if the new Sega 3D Classics game will be coming to the United States, but we'll keep you informed if we hear anything. It will release December 22nd in Japan.
