Starting off in the 17th century, Secret Government has players leading a secret society that is struggling to spread its influence worldwide, influencing and rewriting history in order to achieve your organizations' goals. Starting from both the War of Independence and the Napoleonic War, players will need to appropriately manage their resources in order to manipulate world leaders, plant agents in specific regions, and infiltrate powerful institutions to increase their overall authority. Anyone can be a potential pawn as players seize control of influential and key decision-makers that initially wrote our modern history.
However, this doesn't mean that players will be without their enemies. There is another secret society that awaits in the shadows, plotting to seize control and rewrite history as well. Players will have to outthink and outmaneuver their competition to maintain their secrecy and keep their infiltration hidden to the world. With over 50 types of actions designed to keep the balance of power in the player's hands, there are many ways to build and maintain political power.
Secret Government will be available on Steam's Early Access this October.
Quick Take
Ordinarily, I'm not someone that's very interested in Grand Strategy. I admire the concept, but I do not want to sink in a few-dozen hours to learn the ins and outs of a new title, only to then barely succeed in Easy in single-player while I also get crushed in it's multiplayer. However, this game looks really interesting. Instead of a leader of a nation, you could lead many nations from the shadows. Pretty neat. I still probably won't play it, but I'll definitely keep an eye on it this October. What do you think of Secret Societies? Do you think it is a good/interesting idea? Are you interested in playing it?
