Rare and Microsoft have announced a number of new features coming to Sea of Thieves as part of the Sea Of Thieves Anniversary Update, to celebrate it releasing a year ago in March.
The news was announced by the two studios on the official Xbox website, where they thanked fans for playing Sea of Thieves and detailed some of the upcoming features fans can expect in the game. The Sea of Thieves Anniversary Update will be released on April 30th and is poised to be the game's biggest content update so far. To celebrate the occasion, Rare is giving players a chance to check out some of the new features via Mixer, Twitch, or YouTube, where they'll be streaming some info prior to the Anniversary Update's release. Here's the schedule for those streams according to the above blog post:
- Wednesday, April 10th - 9:00 am PT: The Arena
- Tuesday, April 16th - 9:00 am PT: The Hunter's Call
- Tuesday, April 23rd - 9:00 am PT: Tall Tales - Shores of Gold

In addition to these events, Rare has added a range of items and unlockables to the game to "help everyone celebrate". These items include new quests, extra equipment, and Gamerpics for players' Xbox Live profiles. Rather uniquely, "We Shall Sail Together", one of the tavern tunes from the game, will be released via digital music outlets for free. There's more info coming on the Anniversary Update, so stay tuned for more news when we get it. In the meantime, check out TR's review of the game right here.
