The Samurai Shodown release date has been announced and there's a pretty cool bonus for early adopters. A trailer for the upcoming prequel to a legendary fighting game series has released and it has a rather interesting little note at the end: the early adopters of this reborn fighting game can get the Samurai Shodown Season Pass free!

Samurai Shodown is a fighting game series that can get a little bloody, so much so that the fifth game in the series was released uncensored not too long ago. Samurai Shodown (aka Samurai Spirits) was a well-known arcade hit, but due to the lack of sales of the Neo Geo home platform, and a number of other issues faded out of popularity aside from in the emulation scene.

A trailer was recently released announcing the Samurai Shodown release date as June 25, 2019, and the end card of the trailer has the following statement and disclaimer:

Purchase before June 30th to get the Season Pass free

Pre-order or buy the game on PSN, Xbox Live, or any physical retailer, and you can download the season pass absolutely free through the PlayStation Store or Xbox Live. Must be redeemed before June 30th. Regional restrictions apply.

Developers make a good chunk of money out of season passes, so they must be supremely confident in the quality of their title if they're making it possible to get it at no cost. There's a generous five-day window between the release of the game and the expiration of the offer, giving you plenty of time to check out any reviews and see whether or not it's worth your money.

You can watch the Samurai Shodown Return of a Legend Trailer below. Samurai Shodown releases on June 25, 2019, for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. No price has been announced. Purchase it before June 30, 2019, to get the Samurai Shodown Season Pass free!
