It was recently revealed that the next installment in the venerable Sacred franchise will be hitting shelves sometime this summer (northern hemisphere summer that is).

Publishers Deep Silver posted a brief announcement on its site along with a trailer showing off what looks like some classic action RPG fighting. The game will be available for PS3, Xbox 360, as well as PC, but no announcement regarding next-gen consoles were made.

If you’re unfamiliar with the world of Sacred, suffice it to say that it can be classified as a respected member of the hack ‘n’ slash RPG family. Games like Diablo, Path of Exile, and Torchlight also fall into this category, meaning lots of dungeon crawling, item hunting, and clicking.

Sacred veterans will be pleased to hear that Sacred 3 features a new character class called the Malakhim, along with old favorites like the Seraphim, Ancarian, Safiri, and Khukuri.

Sacred 3 will also support co-op play in addition to offline single player, so the solitary warrior can have just as much fun as the extroverted rogue. Check out the Sacred 3 announcement trailer below for a good-looking CG appetizer. You can also stay up to date on developments on the official Sacred 3 website.
