Get ready to dive into a colorful world with your friends: Sackboy online multiplayer has arrived alongside PS4/PS5 Crossplay and several other features, just in time for the holidays.

Sackboy: A Big Adventure continues the legacy of LittleBigPlanet's protagonist Sackboy in a new style of gameplay. Gone are the requirements to build your own levels — now, players can enjoy a premium platformer featuring a fan-favorite character. Best of all, they can now play along with their friends!

Check out some of the fun stuff you can do in this new musical trailer!

Sackboy Online Multiplayer Isn't The Only New Feature Arriving

The addition of Sackboy online multiplayer is certainly great, but that's not the only new thing arriving today. Also making its debut is PS4/PS5 Crossplay and PS4 to PS5 save transfer.

Let's start with the online multiplayer bit: you and up to three of your friends can play through the entire game, start to finish. Furthermore, today's announcement also reveals ten dedicated Teamwork levels that are exclusively available for multiplayer gameplay. You can help (or hinder!) your friends throughout all of these experiences, and you can cap off a big win with one of the new co-op emotes. Don't worry about your progress, either — everything you earn will carry over to your single-player savegame.

Adding to the fun is the removal of any platform restrictions: players on PS4 and PS5 consoles can now play Sackboy online multiplayer together as long as everyone involved has an active PlayStation Plus subscription. That same subscription is also required to transfer your save data from the PS4 to the PS5; you can access this feature from "Extras" in the pause menu.

That's it for this update, but there's much more to come — Sumo Digital has pledged to support the game with future updates making tweaks and improvements to the game. What remains to be seen, however, is whether or not they'll be adding any more substantive content as they have today.

I've had a controller in my hand since I was 4 and I haven't stopped gaming since. CCGs, Tabletop Games, Pen & Paper RPGs - I've tried a whole bunch of stuff over the years and I'm always looking to try more!
