Modus Games has announced that Rustler is going to be launching later this August on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch. The game is described as essentially Grand Theft Horse, where you go around and cause mayhem and chaos on hapless NPC's that deserved better than the likes of you.
As Guy, you're an anti-hero and a brigand determined to win The Grand Tournament for its top prize. You'll saddle up on a horse (when you aren't stealing them, of course) and complete quests, shoot cows into the sky, because why not, and terrorize the townspeople because they exist to bring you sadistic joy. You don't have to care about the plot, as like GTA the world is your oyster and you're able to do whatever your fiendish little mind comes up with, even if it isn't rated PG. Maybe it's something rated... PG-13. Oh, the horror!
There's lots of pop-culture references inspired by the zany Monty Pythons. You can be towed for parking in a No Horse Zone or do cage fights in a Medieval Martial Arts Arena. You could even do something insane like doing a pimp-a-horse or joining the Round-Earthers sect.
As for weapons, you'll be able to use swords, spears, turds, and crossbows. There's also holy hand grenades or horses if you are feeling particularly cruel in a story that's been called an "easy-to-understand, and hard-to-empathize-with story."
If Rustler sounds like something you're interested in, be sure to check it out on Steam and Wishlist it for its August 31, 2021 release. As for everyone else, it'll be released on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch.
