A trailer for the upcoming Rune Factory 3 Special RPG showcases gameplay and combat. Alongside the trailer comes the release date announcement, scheduled for September 5, 2023.
The remade and expanded version of its predecessor comes over a decade after the initial release. The game is said to include enhanced audio and visuals while not taking away from the original style fans of the franchise have come to know and love.
A brand new mode, titled Newlywed Mode, is a series of standalone adventures that can only be unlocked once the player has gotten married in-game. There are 11 different characters to choose from when it comes to holy matrimony and even a Hell difficulty for those up for a challenge.
Players will take on the role of Micah, the story's main protagonist that has been struck with amnesia. Using his newfound ability to transform into a wooly, players will need to search the lands for humans and monsters to live in harmony. With several weapons to master and wield, such as spears, magic swords, and hammers, there is no shortage of weaponry to attempt to take down those who stand in the way of your quest. The game also features the ability to team up with townsfolk and monsters to take on the most dangerous dungeons.
If dungeon crawling isn't your thing, Rune Factory 3 Special also features some agricultural elements, where players can plant, water, and collect crops. Fishing is also available in-game, so if you don't happen to have a green thumb, fishing is a great way to pass the time and make some coin.
Rune Factory 3 Special is set to release in September on PC and Nintendo Switch. The game has already been set to release in Japan this March of 2023.
