Spyro the Dragon has had a resurgence this past year. After being a minor part of the toys-to-life craze with Skylanders, the plucky purple dragon saw a comeback with the Spyro Reginited Trilogy, a remastering of the PlayStation 1 classic titles. Now though, it seems like Spyro is branching out to another console, this time the Nintendo Switch.
A new rumor, first reported by Go Nintendo from an anonymous source, has stated that Reignited Trilogy will be released on the Switch on September 19th.
The source, according to Go Nintendo, has noted that their previous tips have been "spot-on" in the past. Along with this, the Reignited Trilogy for the Switch was also spotted by a Nintendo UK listing earlier this year, which was taken down quickly after accidentally going up. All of this gives the rumor more credit, and the possible September 3rd release date some weight.
Another rumor was also reported by the same tipster, though this one is Spyro joining the cast of the upcoming Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled. Nitro-Fueled is itself a remaster of the original Crash Team Racing, so having two of the most iconic PlayStation mascots in one game as playable characters is pretty much almost a given, considering the relative synergy of their recent revivals.
While Spyro will be a playable character, what is unknown is if he will be unlockable or ready to go right from the start. More details on Nitro-Fueled may be revealed at E3 this year, which may give us insight on Spyros role, if he has any, in the game.
In fact, the rumor states that both items above for Spyro are designed to be revealed for E3 this year, so players will keep their eyes peeled for any more information that can confirm if these rumors are true.
