Rainbow Six Siege Year 5 Season Pass rumor cover

Update: the Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege Year 5 Season Pass contents have been confirmed in a comment on the /r/Rainbow6 subreddit. The comment contained a short statement by Game Director Lery Athanassof relayed by the game's community manager. The full comment follows:

As our Game Director, Leroy Athanassoff stated, “We are investing our resources on building more features and systems that will impact every player in every match”.

The Year 5 Pass reflects this direction focused on features that benefit all players, not just those playing the newest Operators. It will lead to additional content for all players, such as free events, extensive reworks, and other core gameplay features. More details on why we are releasing six Operators in Year 5, as well as how that leads into Year 6 and beyond will be shared during the Six Invitational in February.

Our original story continues below.

The Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege Year 5 Season Pass has reportedly leaked.

If you've never played this game before, Rainbow Six Siege is a pretty cool tactical (or tacticool, some might say) first-person shooter where teams of highly-skilled (and well equipped) soldiers battle it out against one another in close-quarters environments. The game sustains itself with Season Passes and Battle Passes, and the next one may have just leaked.

Reddit user ignotusartifex posted a single, cut-off screenshot that purports to show the Rainbow Six Siege Year 5 Season Pass.

What's in the Leaked Rainbow Six Siege Year 5 Season Pass?

If the leaked image is correct, here's what you'll get in the Year 5 Season Pass:

The Y5 Pass grants access to a 1-year* VIP premium membership and associated rewards:

- 6 Year 5 operators with 7-day early access
- Exclusive customization items
- 10% off in shop**
- 5% Renown boost

- 0,3% Alpha Pack Boost
- 30% discount on Battle Pass purchase
- 30% bonus Battle Points (not applied to Challenges or Achievements)

*VIP membership ends January 31, 2021
** 10% discount only applies to purchases made with Renown or R6

The image cuts off from there, but presumably the last portion should read "R6 Credits", the game's premium currency.

If this indeed the genuine Year 5 Season Pass, there are two major items of note. Firstly, the game will only have 6 Operators released in Year 5 instead of the usual 8. Secondly, the image is also conspicuously lacking any mention of the 600 bonus R6 Credits that were a part of the Year 4 Season Pass, leading to speculation that they won't be included with this year's pass at all.

One way or another, we're sure to be hearing more about the Rainbow Six Siege Year 5 Season Pass in the coming days. Keep your eyes open for confirmation from Ubisoft, probably before the end of January.

Do you think this is the genuine Year 5 Season Pass? What do you think of the lower number of operators? Let us know in the comments below!
