British developer Ninja Theory's next game could have leaked ahead of this year's E3. If the leaks are to be believed, the game is called Bleeding Edge and will be a 4v4 online melee battler.
The leaks come courtesy of Slovakian website Xboxer.sk. According to that site, Bleeding Edge will be a team-based 4v4 fighter in which you can choose from a number of heroes. Each character will have a distinctive appearance and weapon as well as access to a number of special weapons. Levels in the game will change their appearance and environmental hazards can be used to battle enemies.
The leaked trailer suggests that Ninja Theory will hold an alpha test for Bleeding Edge on June 27th. The game will be spearheaded by DmC: Devil May Cry combat director Rahni Tucker. There's a trailer to go along with the leak which showcases heroes like Buttercup, Gizmo, and Daemon. You can check out the trailer right here. It's pretty hard to fake a trailer of this quality, so if it is a fake then Ninja Theory will probably want to hire the folks who made it. Forgive the low quality of the screenshots, but we don't have much in the way of HD footage. Here are a few grabs from the trailer:
According to a Neogaf discussion, Ninja Theory trademarked "Bleeding Edge" way back in December 2018. On June 4th, the trademark's status was changed to "registered". Registering a trademark essentially means Ninja Theory (and its owner Microsoft) will be able to enforce trademark violations. It's a pretty strong suggestion that Bleeding Edge is the company's next game and that the leak is accurate. It's been rumored that Ninja Theory would announce a 4-player sci-fi game for a while, so it would make sense if that game turned out to be Bleeding Edge.
Ninja Theory is a video game developer based in Cambridge in the UK. The studio's projects include DmC: Devil May Cry, Heavenly Sword, and Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice. Microsoft acquired Ninja Theory back in June last year, which means Bleeding Edge will likely be an Xbox One console exclusive. Ninja Theory will likely look to announce the title during Microsoft's Xbox E3 conference, which will take place on Sunday at 1 pm PT (4 pm ET). Industry analyst Daniel Ahmad certainly thinks that's the case. According to Ahmad, Ninja Theory's Dominic Matthews and Rahni Tucker have (had?) plans to announce the game at the conference. We'll bring you more on this as we get it.
