Update January 20th 9:09AM - Warner Bros has just confirmed the Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga release date as April 5th. A new trailer both confirms the release date and shows off some of the gameplay, including space battles, planet exploration, and combat sequences. This one's been a long time coming, but it looks like it's finally touching down in April. You can check the trailer out here.
Original story follows below.
Original story: UK retailer Game could have just leaked the Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga release date. In a now-deleted tweet recovered by a dataminer, Game lists the release date as being in early April, as well as showing off some of the goodies you'll get if you buy the Deluxe Edition.
When is the Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga release date?
After numerous delays, it now looks like we shouldn't have too much longer to wait for this Lego representation of the entire Star Wars "Skywalker Saga". If the tweet is to be believed, the Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga release date is April 5th. The tweet was swiftly deleted after it was sent, but several eagle-eyed Twitter users, including leaker Aggiornamenti Lumia, managed to pluck it from the furnace, as it were. The Deluxe Edition comes complete with a Luke Skywalker minifigure and several character packs for the game itself.
Through datamining, Lumia also discovered that there are 20 DLC packs being planned for the game, which includes DLC bundles and in-app purchases. This probably includes the character packs bundled in with the Deluxe Edition, but naturally we're not sure yet. It's also worth remembering that Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is a remake-come-remaster of the entire Lego Star Wars game series with the two latest mainline movies added in, so the DLC packs we're seeing for the game could be related to DLC that's been available for previous entries in the series. Time will tell.
While we can't verify this release date, we can verify the contents of the Deluxe Edition pack, thanks to a listing over on Amazon Mexico showing a similar lineup of bonuses. However, Game UK's version includes a special Han Solo carbonite steelbook and six character packs instead of Amazon Mexico's seven. Still, the image is very similar, which lends further credence to Game UK's leak being legit (along with the fact it was quickly deleted, of course). We'll just have to wait and see if a Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga release date is forthcoming soon.
What is Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga?
Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is a Lego title bringing together all nine movies in the Star Wars "Skywalker Saga". Unlike previous Lego Star Wars games, this one will let you explore an open-world environment and travel to any of the planets featured in the movie you've picked at the main menu. The game will also feature overhauled combat, more involved Force mechanics, and other iterations on the classic Lego gameplay. There will, of course, still be plenty of smashing up bricks and seeing adorable Lego-fied versions of characters from the movies.
Originally announced during the E3 2019 presentation, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga was supposed to launch back in October 2020, but was subsequently delayed to 2021 and then beyond that year. We haven't got an official release date for it yet, but if this Game tweet is to be believed, it's probably a matter of time until something is announced officially. Until then, you can wishlist the game on Steam if you like. It'll also be available on PlayStation consoles, Xbox platforms, and Nintendo Switch.
