Rock of Ages 2: Bigger & Boulder, the boulder-rolling racing game developed by ACE Team and published by ATLUS USA, will be releasing worldwide on August 28th & 29th (depending on region & platform) according to a press release.
The game features an eclectic mix of racing, strategy, and tower-defense elements with just a dash of art history thrown into the mix. Gamers will switch between offensive and defensives roles in a an attempt to smash down an enemy's castle. The Greek Titan Atlas (famously tasked with holding up the world on his shoulders) has been tasked with working his way through several periods of art history after he literally "dropped the ball". You'll face enemies from various periods in Art History in appropriately-designed levels centered around artistic genres such as Surrealism or Early Renaissance. A trailer has rolled out in anticipation of the release:
Some things are a bit different in the sequel. Resources are gathered in a different fashion as compared to the original Rock of Ages; this time around, players will not only have to defend their own castle but their resource nodes as well. All of this hectic gameplay will take place in a physics-based game that utilizes the Unreal 4 Engine to facilitate destructive environments that players can smash through to their heart's content.
A major addition to the game is an emphasis on co-operative play. Up to four players can now work together to complete a level. Rock of Ages 2: Bigger & Boulder will release according to the following schedule:
- Steam - Americas and Europe on Aug. 28
- PlayStation 4 - Americas on Aug. 28 and Europe on Aug. 29
- Xbox One - Americas and Europe on Aug. 29
In the meantime, you can add the game to your wishlist on Steam.
