Roblox Monopoly has been announced and is available for pre-order right now, signaling a further expansion of its merchandising empire (and possibly one of the signs of the apocalypse). Additionally, Roblox Nerf guns are on the way.
Unless you've been living under a rock, you probably know that Roblox is pretty darn popular. It topped 90 million MAU (Monthly Active Users) in early 2019 and that number has been consistently growing since. Now, it's expanding to a new world: tabletop.
Roblox Monopoly Actually Looks Pretty Cool
The reveal of Roblox Monopoly via a press release is not really all that surprising. Pretty much anything and everything popular gets a Monopoly board eventually, so it's no surprise that it's Roblox's turn. (Fortnite, for example, has had its own Monopoly edition for some time now.)
Roblox provides a challenge, though; it's not really a game insomuch as it's a creation engine for games with a wide array of choices, somewhat akin to Dreams on PlayStation or Fortnite's recent expansion into community-made creations.
That's probably why Hasbro created this board the way they did. Essentially, the board squares are a mix of well-known locations in the game along with some meta game developer shout-outs. The railroads, for example, are swapped with Artist, Builder, Game Designer, and Programmer.
The same thematic challenges are likely to apply to the upcoming Roblox Nerf guns, although we won't be able to get those anytime soon. You can, however, pre-order Roblox Monopoly right now for $19.99 or your regional equivalent. You can check out the game that inspired this Monopoly board by playing Roblox for free on PC, consoles, and mobile devices right now.
