Riot Games has announced the all-new Riot Forge, a publishing group that will publish new games set in the League of Legends universe developed by third-party studios.
While no details on which developers will be working with Riot Forge has been announced, we did get the general details on how it will work. Simply, third-party developers will work with Riot Games to create games set in the universe of League of Legends. Riot Games promises that it will give developers a chance to "reimagine League in their own style." This way, developers have an established IP to pull from, which allows them to tell stories in this world instead of making their own. These games can be on any platform and encompass any genre, so hopefully, someone will make that Warwick dating simulator we all want. Or is that just me?
While Riot Games may have set up this publishing group, they also recently announced a few of their own projects set in the League of Legends universe. One is simply known as "Project F" and is a Diablo-styled top-down multiplayer action RPG that was made specifically to explore the universe in a lore-friendly way. The other is Project L and is a one v one 2.5d fighting game that pits various characters from League of Legends against each other. Both games don't have release dates, platforms, or even full names, but it does show that Riot isn't leaving it entirely to third parties. They're also currently working on League of Legends: Wild Rift, a version of League of Legends for consoles and mobile platforms.
While they haven't announced anything yet, they have said that they will have their first announcement at The Game Awards on Thursday night. Stay tuned to TechRaptor to find out about it, and when we cover the seemingly inevitable League of Legends dating sim.
