During Riot's 10th anniversary Riot Games announced a lot of games. However, they're clearly trying to break away from League of Legends' MOBA gameplay with their three newest projects, which are just going by internal names for now. Their video that talks about the development process Riot uses gave us a chance to preview these new projects.

The first, and the one we saw the least of, was Project F. We only really got a very quick preview of the game. It appears to be a multiplayer action RPG that reminded me quite a bit of Diablo. It will take place in the world of League of Legends, and give players a chance to step into the roles of various characters. The preview saw one person playing as Blitzcrank and using the robot's giant arms to smack away enemies. There were a couple of human heroes as well that I couldn't identify, but I'm sure League of Legends players will know right away. The goal of the game appears to be getting players to explore the world of League of Legends in a more lore friendly way. In an e-mail Riot said this game is still in "very early development."

The second project was Project L, a fighting game set in the world of League of Legends and something that had been rumored for a while now. Much like Project F, we only got a brief look at the game, but we could see that it was a 2.5d fighting game. We got a chance to see heroes like Darius, Katarina, and Jinx fighting, and a few of Darius' animations. In the video Riot notes that after this they are "going to go dark for a while, so please don't expect anything on this soon." Likewise, in the e-mail mentioned before, Riot notes that Project L is also still in early development.

Finally we got to hear about Project A. Unlike the other two games, Project A isn't set in the world of League of Legends. Instead it's a tactical first person shooter set in a near-future Earth. Riot says they are working to make the game a "stylish, competitive, character-based tactical shooter for PC." Riot is also promising a unique and lethal cast of characters, and that each character will have unique abilities. Unlike the other two, this one is further along in development and has more news about it planned with Riot saying more details are coming in 2020. Riot also released a whole video about this one, and you can see it here. It shows off details like characters using walls of water to block bullets, unleashing toxic gas, and creating knives out of ice to throw. However, unlike most hero shooters, characters die in only a couple of shots, making this a game where precision aiming and fast reflexes really help out. Riot also notes they are also working on making sure there's as little lag as possible, and working hard on an anti-cheat.

Do any of these three games grab you? Are you going to play any? Was this intentionally Project ALF or was that a happy mistake? Let us know in the comments below!
