Rider's Republic Delay

Ubisoft has announced a Rider's Republic delay, with the multiplayer extreme sports game no longer releasing in February, as was announced in February.

Ubisoft released a statement, explaining the reason for the delay:

In September, we gave you a first look at our massive multiplayer playground in Riders Republic. We promised an action-packed outdoor sports park, filled with all-out mass races with more than 50 fellow riders on next-gen consoles, a variety of diverse activities and insane stunts. We can’t wait to have you traverse our vibrant world and live out your own rider’s fantasy.

Today, we want to let you know that we have made the decision to move our release to later this year. This additional time will allow our passionate team to deliver the best fun fueled experience to our players.

Thank you so much for your support and understanding. Stay safe and get ready to join the madness of Riders Republic soon!

We have seen an increase in blowback with games releasing in unpolished states, in the wake of Cyberpunk 2077, and development of games has continued to be impacted by the Pandemic, mandating work at home in many regions, especially with the second wave. Riders Republic is far from the only recent delay, as we have seen Hogwarts Legacy announce it will not release until 2022, Cyberpunk 2077's DLC has been delayedStronghold: Warlords got delayed a few weeks, as did early access title King Arthur: Knight's Tale. Not all of these are for the same reason, or the same factors, but they show a common trend in 2021 of delays to better polish and finish games.

What is the new Riders Republic Release Date?

At this time, there is no new Riders Republic release date, with Ubisoft only commiting to releasing the sports game later this year. Previously, Riders Republic had been scheduled to release on February 25th. For those looking to take a ride, it means finding some additional things to do for the next few months - perhaps even checking out Ubisoft's last sports games like Steep.

What do you think of the Riders Republic delay? Do you think games should be announced later, or delay more oftne? Let us know in the comments below!
