NIS America has announced the Rhapsody: Marl Kingdom Chronicles release date. Both Rhapsody II and III will arrive in the West on August 29th if you're in the US, but you'll have to wait a couple days extra if you're in Europe, as the release date for that region is September 1st.
We first learned that the two Rhapsody sequels were heading West in January this year, when NIS America also revealed it would be localizing Disgaea 7. The latter was a pretty predictable announcement, but the former took many by surprise; the first Rhapsody game is a cult classic, so getting the sequels in the West is pretty nice.
As part of this release date announcement, NIS America has also released a new trailer spotlighting Rhapsody II, the official subtitle for which is Ballad of the Little Princess. The trailer shows how the events of the second game tie into the first, as well as revealing the key cast and what they'll be getting up to over the course of the game.
Rhapsody II will star Kururu, the daughter of Marl Kingdom monarch Cornet (who was also the protagonist of the first game). Kururu decides to embark on her very own magical adventure, but she'll soon learn that there's much more out there in the world than her whimsical mind can conjure.
The third game, Rhapsody III: Memories of Marl Kingdom, is also arriving alongside the second. This one once again revolves around Cornet and her family, but this time, you'll see events from the perspective of both mother and daughter, as well as Cornet's mother Cherie. As you play through these games, you'll experience classic musically-inflected JRPG adventures complete with turn-based combat, exploration, and all that other good stuff.
Rhapsody: Marl Kingdom Chronicles launches for PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC on August 29th in North America and September 1st in Europe.
