Retail Royale

Retail Royale is a Battle Royale that takes place in an IKEA-style inspired store named IDEA. This game is based off the real-life IKEA hide-and-seek games where 3,000-person hide-and-seek games would take place. Those were quickly shut down, of course, but you can recreate those games in Retail Royale, which has 12 players fighting to the death via "advance melee and ranged combat". Of course this advanced combat has players using literally everything they can get their hands on as weapons, including chairs. Curious? Check out this gameplay footage to see Retail Royale in action:

As you can see from the gameplay footage, it's fairly similar to the ill-fated The Culling, but it has its own twist on the gameplay, and theme. Still, players will have to scavenge for weapons and loot while recycling materials that can be used to craft better gear, so it's not that much different. Just more Swedish.

If you would like to check the Retail Royale out, you can wishlist it on Steam here and forget about it until it launches on Steam's Early Access program in Q3 2021. However, if you want to play this game before its Early Access release, you can join the game's Discord and read the #become-a-playtester page to participate in weekly playtests and get your retail warrior on.
