Apex Legends developer Respawn Entertainment has announced that it's opened a new studio in Wisconsin. The studio will support the ongoing development of the battle royale hero shooter and will be headed up by Ryan Burnett, a gaming industry veteran whose name you might well recognize.

In an announcement post on its website, Respawn describes Burnett as "an extraordinary leader with a proven track record in live service games". Burnett's credits include work with Epic Games' Unreal Engine, as well as Call of Duty developer Raven Software and more. This, according to Respawn, is "the sort of creativity and innovation" that serves as the foundation of games like Apex Legends.

It's not exactly clear what the new studio will be working on in specific terms. Broadly speaking, we're likely to see more content for Apex Legends as a result of its foundation, but it remains to be seen what impact the new Wisconsin team will have on the game. One thing's for sure, though: more Apex is definitely coming.

Apex Legends' new studio could well mean more content for the game in future.

This marks the second studio Respawn has opened up since its acquisition by EA back in 2017, with the first additional Respawn studio having opened in Vancouver in 2020Apex Legends continues to go from strength to strength, too; not only is its developer opening new studios, but the game continues to receive new content and updates on a regular basis.

Apex isn't the only thing Respawn's working on, either. The studio is currently putting the finishing touches on Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the followup to 2019's successful Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. That game is expected to launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on April 28th. You can check out Apex Legends for free right now on PC, PlayStation consoles, Xbox platforms, and Nintendo Switch, as well as mobile devices.
