Resident Evil Village

Capcom has announced the Resident Evil Village release date at long last, and players can expect to play the game in the not too distant future. Alongside it, they have also announced Resident Evil Re:Verse, a multiplayer game to celebrate the series' 25th anniversary.

What is the Resident Evil Village release date?

Resident Evil Village releases May 7th, 2021, on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. Resident Evil Village will offer free next-generation upgrades on PlayStation and Xbox systems, taking also full advantage of the new system's hardware for more detailed visuals and lightning-fast load times.

What is Resident Evil Re:Verse?

Resident Evil Re:Verse is going to be a deathmatch multiplayer game for four to six players featuring characters from across the whole series. It was originally leaked before the show, but we got new details on it. Beyond featuring fan-favorite characters, we now know that it will be in a variety of iconic locales and that they aim to be 5 minutes long, with the winner being the person with the most points at the end. When you are killed in a game, you are turned into a bioweapon that can score even more points.

You can sign up for the Resident Evil Re:Verse closed beta right now on Capcom's website, through January 25th and it is on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One (Xbox Series X|S and PS5 will run it in backward compatibility modes). The beta will run between January 27th and January 31st.

Is there a Resident Evil Village demo?

There is a Resident Evil Village demo, and it is available right now exclusively on PlayStation 5. The Maiden Demo is a standalone experience, designed to showcase the technical and artistic flair of the game, while players use their wits to stealthily survive a dangerous area with no way to defend themselves. There will be a new demo for all platforms available during the spring, prior to launch.

One interesting element to note is that the Maiden demo has a necklace that has no known use at this time. This is reminiscent of the first Resident Evil 7 demo, which had the dummy finger, which did nothing until an update to the demo let players solve a puzzle with it that gave them an extra skill coin to use in the main game.

What Else Did We Learn about Resident Evil Village?

There's still a lot of unknowns about Resident Evil Village, but the reveal showed us several new things. We now know for sure the game will feature Ethan returning as the protagonist, as well as Chris Redfield showing up. There'll be an inventory system based on the series classic style of organization, and you will buy, and sell items, craft them, and interact with a merchant called The Duke. To help give Ethan a fighting chance, he also has learned the skill of the desparate kick, which he can use to push enemies away for a bit more time.

Preorders also opened today, with them available on all systems along with a deluxe edition. The deluxe edition will have additional in-game content including tape-recorder save point options, earlier access to extra hard difficulties, and more. There is also a collector's edition with physical goodies including a statue of Chris Redfield. To find out more, watch the full showcase below, and stay tuned to TechRaptor.
