Reported first by Eurogamer earlier this morning, it appears that people who ordered the GAME exclusive Collector's Edition for Resident Evil 7: Biohazard were in for a rude surprise. Consisting of a series of goodies, GAME emailed customers about the issue on Monday night, saying that they would be unable to fulfill orders for the special edition.
The special edition was sold by GAME for £99 and included an alternative inlay, a survival pack: action set DLC, a USB finger, 5 lithographs, a 20th-anniversary artbook, and most notably a replica of the Baker Mansion. It's this mansion though where problems came up, as they failed to arrive at GAME in a proper shape. In a comment to MCV, they stated that the replica's arrived damaged from the manufacturer (Link Digital Spirit), and they felt unable to send it on to customers.
In the email that they sent out to customers, they stated the problem was beyond their control and that they will refund any customer payments taken for the order. Notably, Eurogamer reports that even after the email had been sent out that at least one customer was charged for the amount, having to await the refund process from GAME. At the end of their email to customers, they state that they will be granting customers who had ordered the edition £10 worth of GAME reward points to spend on their site or store.
Unlike most Collector's Editions, the GAME Resident Evil 7: Biohazard collector's edition did not include a copy of the game, meaning that while they got some minor bonuses in the Survival Pack: Action Set DLC and the ability to unlock the Madhouse difficulty right away, they would have had to buy the game separately.
The U.S. version of the Resident Evil 7 collector's edition is having its own set of issues as well, despite being a different special edition created by Triforce. This version retailed for $180 and included the game as well as a metal case, an exclusive lithograph, a creepy note from a resident of Baker Mansion, a dummy finger USB drive, and a Replica of the Baker mansion, although this mansion also serves as a music player. Like the U.K. version, the issues appear to surround the Baker Mansion replica and there have been numerous emails sent about the delay to users, as Gamestop is awaiting more stock. One user, who claims to be a GameStop employee, outlined how his district is handling matters with a $30 discount for those who ordered the edition. Additionally, to help those who are wanting to play, if you go to the store they will give a standard version of the game and allow you to exchange it for the collector's edition when it arrives along with the discount.
