GOG has announced that a re-released version of classic survival horror game Resident Evil 3: Nemesis will be available on the platform in just a couple of days.
Launching on September 25th - that's in just two days at time of writing - Resident Evil 3 will arrive on GOG pretty much fully intact, albeit with a few modern improvements like an improved DirectX renderer and sharper visuals.
Given that the original Resident Evil was added to GOG's library back in June, and that the sequel got itself a re-release in August, it's nice to see the third game arriving and tying up the original 90s Resident Evil trilogy.
As GOG itself says, this re-released version of Resident Evil 3 is practically identical to the original; it'll be presented in all its pre-rendered glory, with the same (admittedly upscaled) blocky character models and enemies you may remember if you played it way back in the late 90s.
Of course, if you've only played the 2020 remake, then like its predecessors, this version of Resident Evil 3 might seem a little dated to you. If you're in the mood for some classic tank-control survival horror, though, this one's a real gem.
Resident Evil 3 was originally released back in 1999. Its plot revolves around Jill Valentine, who returns from the original Resident Evil.
Jill must flee a Raccoon City overrun with the undead, as well as other creatures that have been mutated thanks to the machinations of the Umbrella Corporation. In particular, she must face off against Nemesis, a hulking brute that appears sporadically throughout Resident Evil 3's story.
Nemesis himself is a pretty interesting and innovative enemy, especially given the time in which Resident Evil 3 was released. He'll periodically pursue you depending on where you're up to in the story, and he can't be killed, so you'll have to find a way to temporarily incapacitate him or escape from him.
You'll be able to grab Resident Evil 3 on PC via GOG on September 25th. The first two games are already available on the platform, and you can also pick up a bundle that includes all three if you like.
