Reggie Fils-Aime Video Game Hall of Fame

Former Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime has been inducted into the International Video Game Hall of Fame after receiving the Walter Day Life Time Achievement Award.

As Nintendo Life reports, Nintendo superfan Triforce was the man who put in the nomination for Mr. Fils-Aime which (quite obviously) went through. Reggie was delighted to receive the award, noting several other notable gaming personalities who were also recipients like Apple's Steve Wozniak.

The Walter Day Life Time Achievement Award is (rather unsurprisingly) named after Walter Day. You might not be familiar with this man, but odds are you've heard of a little thing he founded called Twin Galaxies. Twin Galaxies serves as the verifier and repository for video game world records and has for some time now, despite in recent years being more embroiled in controversy surrounding Todd Rogers and Billy Mitchell.

Reggie Fils-Aime Happily Accepts Walter Day Life Time Achievement Award

Mr. Fils-Aime was more than happy to accept the Walter Day Life Time Achievement Award. He spent a bit under three minutes giving his acceptance speech, a portion of which we've transcribed below:

Lastly, I want to thank the players and the fans. Like you, I have a passion for video games. And I was a fan before I was ever an employee of Nintendo. And I think that knowledge of video games, I think the knowledge of all of these great franchises — the ability to poke fun at myself, to create all of those wonderful memes — I think that is what endeared me with the community and I do believe that the love of the community is a large part of why I'm able to receive this award. Thank you. — Reggie Fils-Aime

It's hard to think of anyone else who has such a storied career and been such a force of positivity in the gaming world. Hat's off to Reggie for the win — it's well-deserved. You can see Reggie's acceptance speech below.
