The grimdark, Lovecraftian roguelike Darkest Dungeon is making its return. Developer Red Hook Studios teased the latest in the series, and things are looking a little chilly in Darkest Dungeon 2.
The trailer features the iconic narrator from the first game. The theme this time around looks just as dark, although the setting appears to be in a snowy, mountainous setting. The teaser shows a few different heroes that we can expect to see in Darkest Dungeon 2, including the Crusader, Grave Robber, Hellion, and more. Likely there will be new heroes included in this title as well.
Darkest Dungeon is a roguelike sidescrolling turn-based game. Players create a band of adventurers and delve into dungeons that progressively get more difficult and dark. Monsters and other horrors aren't the only things you have to worry about, as you fight hunger and disease while trying to fend off insanity. It's a brutally difficult, unforgiving game that features permanent death.
Darkest Dungeon has received multiple DLCs since its launch in 2016, the latest being The Color of Madness and The Musketeer. The base game and its DLC are also on sale right now on Steam, so if you've been interested in seeing what Darkest Dungeon has to offer, $17.15 for the Ancestral Edition, containing the game and all DLC, isn't a bad price.

Quick Take
I admit I didn't play all too much of the first game. My ever-expanding backlog keeps me from some titles that I should definitely give more time. With this announcement, it might be a good time for me to give Darkest Dungeon another go. I love the snowy theme, and for some reason, I tend to gravitate towards games like that. The narrator from the first title makes a return as well, and if anything it's worth listening to that amazing voice.
