Rockstar have revealed just a few of the many, many species of wildlife that will inhabit the world of Red Dead Redemption 2.
"The diverse habitats and climates of Red Dead Redemption 2 are home to around 200 species of animals, birds, and fish, all of which behave and respond to their environment in a unique way."
Alligators, Grizzly Bears, Vultures, Eagles, Coyotes, Buck, and more are listed in the post.
Hunting and fishing are also explained in the post. "Hunting and fishing are essential skills for survival in the wilderness, providing food, materials and a source of income."
After a successful hunt, you'll have the option to skin and butcher it there and then, or take it with you whole. Whole animals can be sold to a butcher, whilst skinning and butchering them yourself will provide you with materials for crafting or cooking.
You'll have to pursue animals if you don't kill them immediately. Wound them non-fatally and they'll try to escape. This will lead to you following tracks, blood trials, and clues as to where they went.
Hunting with the right weapon is just as important as hunting in the right area. Killing an animal with a gun will wield less bountiful gains than using a bow will provide. Your bow will also offer a quieter approach on your unsuspecting prey.
Fishing is another way to get valuable goods. Like other animals, fish can yield meat and other valuable resources that you're sure to need. There will be a wide range of fish species living in the many lakes and rivers of Red Dead Redemption 2, as well as a range of baits that fish will react differently to.
Red Dead Redemption 2 will feature 19 breeds of horses, all of which have their own unique characteristics. Every breed, from Mustangs to Arabians, will perform and handle differently. They will also have a wide range of customizations options, including saddles, spurs, coats, and much more.
You also have a wide range of aesthetic customizations, as listed in our Everything We Learned About Red Dead piece. You can cut their mane, braid their hair, name it, and more. Horses will also have their own stats, including health and stamina, which can be increased.
Sony also announced they're doing a run of console bundles. These bundles will include a 1 TB PS4 Pro, Red Dead Redemption 2, and a wireless Dualshock controller. It will cost $399.99 USD and $499.99 CAD.
The bundle on the EU blog gives the option of either a 500 GB base PS4 or a 1 TB Pro. The price of either bundle is not listed on the EU blog post.
