We've got another hint about an upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2 PC version — a snippet of the Rockstar Social Club's source code explicitly mentions something relating to a PC version of the game, providing another shred of evidence that we're eventually going to be playing this fantastic Western game on our home computers.

Twitter user @JakoMako51 first spotted the particular snippet of code and highlighted it in a tweet.

The link highlighted by @JakoMako51 does indeed contain a single snippet of code that appears to refer to a PC version of the game. The code in question — RDR2_PC_Accomplishments:"Accomplishments" — is placed right next to similarly-named bits of code for a console version ("RDR2_PS4_Trophies").

The journey to PC for this game has been a bit tricky. A rumor in late 2018 had stated that the game would "absolutely not" be coming to PC, but this was chalked up to a mistranslation and the tweet referring to this rumor was deleted. Since then, Rockstar Games has been relatively silent on the issue of whether or not we would be getting a Red Dead Redemption 2 PC version and, more importantly, when.

Despite the relative radio silence on the matter, the folks at Rockstar Games managed to get Grand Theft Auto V onto the PC much quicker than we may have expected. The game originally came out on September 17, 2013. An Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC version were to follow on on November 18, 2014, but the PC version was ultimately pushed back until April 14, 2015, to allow for additional time for polish.

As for Red Dead Redemption 2, it was launched for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 26, 2018. If we follow a similar timeline, we should be getting the Red Dead Redemption 2 PC version 574 days after its original console release — sometime around May 22, 2020.

Unfortunately, this tiny snippet of code is all of the new evidence we have towards a PC version of the game. Here's hoping that we'll get a more concrete announcement sooner rather than later.
