After months upon months of rumors, speculation, and hints in the game's code, it's finally been confirmed: The Red Dead Redemption 2 PC release date has been officially announced by Rockstar Games. There's a bit of bad news for some, though — it also seems to be an Epic Exclusive, although it will thankfully be for only a short time.

An article on the Rockstar Newswire states that the Red Dead Redemption 2 PC version will finally be coming to computers everywhere on November 5, 2019. Special bonuses will be available to people who make their purchase through the recently-released Rockstar Games Launcher in a move that isn't all that surprising. If you'd prefer to get it on another platform, it seems that Rockstar Games will be making Steam users wait a little longer.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is an Epic Exclusive... Sort of.

One of the biggest bits of news about the Red Dead Redemption 2 PC release date is that the first few weeks are going to be restricted to one of two choices for PC players: either Rockstar's own launcher, or the Epic Games Store.

Here's a blurb from the news post that explains things:

Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC will also be available to pre-order at the Epic Games store, Greenman Gaming, the Humble Store, GameStop and additional digital retailers starting October 23rd with a pre-order bonus of 25 Gold Bars for Red Dead Online. Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC will also be available to purchase on Steam this December.

A specific date in December isn't mentioned, but odds are that it will be a one-month period of exclusivity. If you've got a preference for Steam, you're going to be waiting to get your hands on this game, it seems.

The Red Dead Redemption 2 PC Release Date Brings Rockstar Games Launcher Bonuses

Those of you who decide to purchase the game on the Rockstar Games Launcher instead of the Epic Games Store or Steam will get some special bonuses. A limited time offer will be taking place from when pre-purchases open at 11:00 AM Eastern on October 9, 2019, through October 22, 2019. You'll be able to get two of the following six games added to your Rockstar Games Launcher for free:

  • Grand Theft Auto III
  • Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
  • Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
  • Bully: Scholarship Edition
  • L.A. Noire: The Complete Edition
  • Max Payne 3: The Complete Edition

Those of you who have already grabbed the launcher will note that San Andreas is nonetheless in this list.

Pre-purchases on the Rockstar Games Launcher will also grant you a free upgrade to the Premium Edition of the game. The Special and Ultimate Editions will also be discounted by $20 apiece.

Additional bonuses for purchases made via Rockstar's own launcher include:

  • Outlaw Survival Kit for Story Mode
  • War Horse for Story Mode
  • Treasure Map for Story Mode
  • Cash Bonus for Story Mode
  • 50 Gold Bars for Red Dead Online

More to Come October 9

More information about the PC edition will come on the day pre-orders open up: October 9, 2019. You'll be able to see screenshots, system specifications, and additional details.

No price for this edition has been announced. The Red Dead Redemption PC release date is November 5, 2019, on the Rockstar Games Launcher and the Epic Games Store with a Steam release to follow sometime in December.

Are you going to buy this game on the Red Dead Redemption 2 PC release date or are you going to wait for it to drop on Steam? What do you think of the monthlong Epic and Rockstar launcher exclusivity? Let us know in the comments below!

I've had a controller in my hand since I was 4 and I haven't stopped gaming since. CCGs, Tabletop Games, Pen & Paper RPGs - I've tried a whole bunch of stuff over the years and I'm always looking to try more!
