Bad news for fans of space shooters: the Rebel Galaxy Outlaw console release date has been pushed back to 2020 for all platforms. Well, it's not entirely bad news — more development time means Double Damage Games can get things just right.
A news post on the game's official website has all of the details. Let's get the heavy stuff out of the way:
We’ve been saying since our September roadmap our hope is to get out the console versions — PS4 and Switch — in 2019. Unfortunately, while the port is feature complete, rating and certification are still ahead of us, both of which take time. We’ll also be taking this period to continue QAing the game to ensure you receive the smoothest experience possible.
There are, of course, other details that players might be curious about — what is the FPS going to be? How will the undocked and docked Nintendo Switch gameplay compare, and how will the PS4 version run as compared to the PS4 Pro? More details about these things will be coming at a later date, but for now, we can close out with a bit of good news to ease the pain.
Rebel Galaxy Outlaw Console Release Date Delay Has a Bright Side: The Xbox One
While it's kind of a bummer that Rebel Galaxy Outlaw won't be coming out until next year, there is an upside: Double Damage Games has officially announced an Xbox One version of the game.
There isn't much in the way of details other than the fact that they're definitely planning on making this port. Presumably, it will be arriving sometime after the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch versions. More details about the Xbox One version (and an updated roadmap) will arrive in the new year.
In the meantime, you should go ahead and buy Rebel Galaxy Outlaw while it's on sale for $22.49 at the Epic Games Store, a 25% discount off of its normal price. It's really quite an excellent game. Don't forget to pick up the first game in the franchise, too — it's a steal at just three bucks.
