Princess Maker 5 is the final installment of the life simulation series, and about to arrive on Steam.
Developed by Gainax, who are best known for their popular anime series such as Gurren Lagann and Neon Genesis Evangelion, have teamed up with CFK, a Korean games provider, to release their final Princess Maker title. Beginning in 1991, the franchise has fostered ever-lasting popularity through allowing players to raise royalty with unique twists. Adopting the role as a parent, players are able to raise a daughter for a period of around eight years, and must follow fully-customizable parenting policies. Tasks and abilities such as playing, studying, manners, or curfews play a crucial role in constructing your daughter's future. The series began arriving on Steam back in 2016, with a port of Princess Maker 2 Refine, which according to our review did show its age, though it was nice to have the title finally officially released in English.
Given your daughter's civil and social duties, you'll find that she may interact with upwards of one-hundred individuals, meaning her development is also shaped by these outside forces. As the series proceeds, the dynamics become much more sophisticated, and players will soon realize their keen raising tactics may need some adjusting as their child beings to grow more independent. There are numerous familiar faces that will spring up for players who have completed the previous iterations of Princess Maker, so look out for some upcoming nostalgia.
Princess Maker 5 implements a new system to the series that revolves around a featured called MOE, or Motion of Emotion. The system acts to depict the overall reflection of the daughter's personal interests and aims to maintain her human side. Your daughter will be displayed as a mini-character, and you'll see her act according to her given conditions. If she, for instance, is feeling ill or stressed, you'll be able to see her laying down on the bed, or venting to her teddy bear.
This Steam release of Princess Maker 5 welcomes those who have played the title previously as there are new elements that have been developed specifically for the Steam version. Princess Maker 5 is set to release on Steam come April 26. For those new to the series, be sure to check out the trailer below, if this seems interesting.
