The Rain World: Downpour DLC release date is finally here, and we've learned that not only are there over 1000 new rooms for your slugcat to explore, but there are also more slugcats to choose from, new game modes to play, and new co-op campaigns to tackle with friends.
The developers at Videocult have announced the release date for the latest content with a video trailer that looks to be fun. Though Rain World: Downpour is known for being inherently difficult, the latest additions sound like they will add a bit more depth and allow players to take on the challenge with friends. The DLC will come with more floors for your slugcat to traverse, as well as hungrier monsters to avoid. With five new slugcats to choose from, each of whom comes with their own individual storyline, abilities, and style of play, you will find countless hours of mayhem to enjoy.
The devs have also added a new Challenge mode, where players can test their slugcat's might and skill sets in different scenarios. Sounds like a purrfect way to test the newest playable characters' abilities and attacks. Moreover, players will no longer have to face the depths of the broken ecosystem alone, as the co-op campaign mode allows for up to 3 friends to join in on the reckless and dangerous missions ahead.
If you don't know, Rain World is a 2D survival platformer, where you take on the life of the elusive nomadic slugcat. Your main goal is simple: survive. There are predators at every turn, waiting to snack on your bones (if slugcats have bones), and a vast world to explore.
Due to a horrific flood, you have been separated from those you hold dear to your heart, and you will need to find the will to keep going through the continuous downpours to find food and shelter, while also avoiding being swept away by the raging waters. The game is somewhat comparable to other platformers, such as Chasm, but keeps things fresh with the implementation of multiple different characters to choose from and blood-boiling levels to complete.
The Rain World: Downpour DLC is set to release on January 19th on PC. We know that the game will be coming to console later on down the line, but have no time frame as of yet. To view the trailer and read more about the update and game itself, head to the game's official Steam page.
