During today's Summer Game Festival Day of the Devs livestream, developer Tribute Games revealed some more info about its upcoming retro-style platformer Panzer Paladin. The new information includes a release window and some details about new game modes.
Perhaps the most interesting reveal about Panzer Paladin during the stream was the existence of the new Blacksmith mode. You can create and upload your very own weapon, and you'll use what looks like a pretty powerful pixel editor in order to do so. The devs showed off a player creating a fork weapon and then using it to righteously smite Panzer Paladin's legions of enemies.
In addition to the Blacksmith feature, Tribute Games also revealed that Panzer Paladin will have a Speedrun mode built into the game. Each of the levels will have times for you to beat, so you can work on either facing off against your own time, your friends' times, or the community best. Tribute Games encourages you to find shortcuts and maximize your time within each stage in order to make sure you get the best time possible.
Panzer Paladin is an upcoming retro-style platformer-action game evoking old-school action arcade classics. It'll boast 17 levels across various different locations, as well as over 100 melee weapons that you can steal from enemies and use yourself. You can either play as strong-but-slow Grit or small-but-fast Flame, and each character will have their own strengths and weaknesses to help you navigate Panzer Paladin's tricky world.
If you're hankering to get your hands on Panzer Paladin, you can do so later this summer. It'll launch for PC and Nintendo Switch. No word yet on releases for the other major consoles or anything to do with next-gen. We'll bring you more on this as we get it.
