Sony has announced that the PSVR2 PC adapter, which will allow you to use your PlayStation VR2 headset to play VR games on Steam, will launch later this summer.

We first learned that PSVR2 would get PC support back in February, but now, thanks to a new PlayStation blog post, we know that the adapter will arrive on August 7th and will set you back $59.99 or your regional equivalent. Never knowingly underpriced, eh, Sony?

If you want to use the adapter, you'll also need a DisplayPort cable that meets the DisplayPort 1.4 standards, as well as a Steam account and a PC that meets the minimum hardware requirements for PSVR2.

Want to use your PSVR2 headset to play Half-Life: Alyx? Soon, you'll be able to do just that.

Here are the specs your PC will need to have if you want to avail yourself of the PSVR2 PC adapter.

  • Windows 11 or Windows 10, 64-bit
  • Intel Core i5-7600 or AMD Ryzen 3 3100 with Zen2 architecture or later
  • 8GB RAM
  • Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 with Turing architecture or later, or AMD Radeon RX 5500XT or later
  • DisplayPort 1.4
  • Direct USB connection
  • Bluetooth 4.0

You'll also need to download the PlayStation VR2 app and the SteamVR app, but once you've done that (and assuming your PC meets the aforementioned requirements, of course), you just need to connect the adapter to your PSVR2 and your PC and you'll be ready to go.

This could be you, but imagine that the PS5 is a PC and you've bought the PSVR2 PC adapter.

Of course, there are some caveats to using PSVR2 on PC. Naturally, you won't be able to play any PS5 VR games on Steam; this adapter is just so that you can play Steam-based VR games with your headset.

You also won't be able to take advantage of PSVR2 features like haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, HDR, and eye tracking. However, you'll still feel the rumble of the controllers, and features like the headset's 4K visuals and finger touch detection should still work.

The PSVR2 PC adapter launches on August 7th. Stay tuned for more.
